A great school day starts at the bus stop! At Grain Valley Schools, our Transportation team does more than drive. For many students, they are the first friendly face to welcome students each morning, and the last to wave goodbye. Our team ensures students arrive ready for the day ahead.

Bus Safety and Discipline

Grain Valley Schools offer school bus transportation to all families in our district. Students who live in subdivision neighborhoods will receive service from corner bus stops that are established for student safety and route efficiency. Students who live in the countryside will receive service from the point where their driveway meets the road.

Students can have only one location from where they ride the bus to school and only one location to where they are delivered in the afternoon. Variable pick-up and delivery schedules are not permitted to ensure consistency and safety.

High school and middle school students ride the bus together, with the bus dropping off and picking up at the high school first, then the middle school approximately 15 minutes later. In general, middle school students sit in the front of the bus and high school students sit in the back of the bus, with boys and girls sitting separately.

Kindergarten through 5th-grade students ride the bus together, and these routes begin after the high school/middle school routes are completed. In general, kindergarten students sit in the front of the bus, and 5th-grade students sit in the back of the bus.

Our drivers reserve the right to assign seats to individual students or all riders as needed.
